Again a great trip in February 2010, with visits to Sahel (Oursi, Markoye) followed by meetings with women from CDN. Many discussions, many experiences, difficult to land back in Europe. Loans are getting there and trainings were very interesting to follow and to give. Hopefully new loans will be defined and agreed by CDN in the next weeks.

Last November our local partner, the association CDN launched 6 new loans. According last news we had, payments are being done ontime without any problem to record. Fred and Xavi will visit those 6 groups of women end of February to evaluate the efficiency of such loans. Plus we'll have the greatest experience with the training of 10 new groups of women, an assistance of around 50 to 70 people can be expected!
Xavi and Fred are preparing for another visit to Burkina Faso at the end of February. They're looking forward to training 10 new groups of women that hope to use microloans to grow their businesses.

Last weekend most of the team convened in Bayonne in southern France for the Fêtes de Bayonne. Similar to the celebrations of San Fermin in Pamplona (aka: the running of the bulls), everybody in town was dressed in white with a touch of red - shirts from our peña in the pictures.
We seized the opportunity to organize a fundraising dinner. It was good to see new and familiar faces and talk about the efforts in Réo.
We just received word that the first business proposals have been submitted. There were more than 20 projects ranging from fish to peas (petit pois). We will soon post more information about the individual projects.
